Paper + fire is an advanced art journaling technique; do not attempt unless you are an experienced art journaler.
Don’t forget that your journal is a 3D object with which you can physically interact. When people try to “add 3D elements” they usually just throw on some buttons or something which is fine but I would definitely like to see more people playing with the actual structure of their book. This video is a really lazy example but it sorta shows what I’m getting at – build your pages OUT, use ‘em for other stuff. One thing I miss about store-bought journals was that there were enough pages to carve niches and such:

Hard to tell because of the flat scan, but the runes are in a little niche covered with plastic so you can shake them around.
I usually used it as a way to finish out a journal I was bored of, but also something something playing with structure and purpose. Such as. Try it!
