Marizateria.com hasn’t been around that long but my old blog was and I imported all those entries, therefore, this counts. These were posted on May 27, 2009 – things are kinda the same but kinda different. :)

change my tune

I’ve been trying to move away from my “throw down a phrase and a lazy-ass line drawing” thing that I do. I’ll be back to it in about 5 minutes because I like it and it’s easy/not messy, but it has been fun to paint a little. and cover everything in beeswax (which you can’t really see in the pics; everything but the olive oil one is beeswax’d up like mad)

onions

Fun fact: three of these entries were “inspired” (for lack of a better word) by my favorite pasta dish (which I made the other night).

See flickr for more/full images.

Three Things Thursday: Using The Accordion Fold in Your Journal

The accordion fold is when you fold the paper with alternating valleys and mountains, like a – wait for it – accordion.

  • Basic Page Extender
  • Use fewer folds in this structure, there’s no need for a ton of mountains on this type. This is great if you just want a little more space on a particular spread.

  • Tabs
  • This is better with more folds so you have more places to paste your whatevers. It’s pretty simple too – just glue it in there. This is great for smaller ephemera (if you have a larger journal you could do postcards); I could also see an exquisite corpse situation using this idea.

  • Cutting Shapes (Tunnels)
  • This is a cool way to add a little more of 3D-ish element to your journal. If you use fewer folds or more paper (more like the first example) you could also get some good tunnel action going.
