The Perfect Journal

moleskine Doesn’t exist, apparently. I really wanted to like moleskinzz but they ain’t that great – I do like the size and the feel of the paper, but a little bit of paint and it’s already curling. The weird thing is that everybody raves about how thick and awesome the paper is? I mean, it’s thickER than the notebook one, but not as sturdy as watercolor (well, depends on the weight you get, but generally). So, I am still looking for the perfect-ish journal; until then I will have to continue making my own. Binding blank journals is pretty much my least favorite book project, which is why I was hoping the moleskine would be the replacement.

yellow journal 2

So here is the most recent. It’s the same as the other yellow one I made. Well, not exactly the same, being handmade and all, but basically. I’m currently working on a red one but I can not for the life of me get the cover together, even though it’s the same process it’s always been. After a while I felt like I was taking crazy pills and just decided to try again later.

I took this photo in my make-shift DIY light tent – FYI, if you decide to try that, you need a huge-ass box. I only had a small document box and that did not work at all. This photo is the result of some creative angling, but it was very difficult. So now I’m in the market for a huge-ass box because I would like to take nicer photos of my stuff.

It’s starting to get late and the amount of rambling I’ve had to delete out of this entry is ridic. I think I just need to go.

Hi… thanks for adding me to your links. Moleskines do kind of curl up if you use wet media. I like the journal I am working in right now because it has heavy watercolor paper in it; however, I do not like its spiral binding. Guess I will have to make my own journal someday. I have made two cereal box journals which is a fun thing to do.

yeah, i didn’t like the spiral binding of the most watercolor pads either, which is why I had to start making my own. the cereal box one sounds like a good idea!
