The hole is from when I was practicing for my wheels workshop. Eventually I moved to a different “practice” journal but not before making holes in most of the remaining pages. Also, I don’t know the magic/science behind it, but the paint markers use water-based paint that goes more easily over dried paints and other surfaces – the regular sharpies tend to gum up.
So I’ve figured out how to make a volvelle, but, um . . . how do you decide what to put in one? I tried looking for examples on teh interwebz, but most are astronomical or calculators = stuff that isn’t really any use to my journal. Splerd.
IDK, I just try to think of things that could be change-y. I find it most useful to use for text (either to do something mad-libs style or just have a phrase run through the page); faces/expressions are a good one…umm.. parts of a landscape could change, etc.

What’s with the giant hole in the page? Also, is that a Sharpie paint pen? What’s the difference in those and regular Sharpie’s?
